Episode #11: The Legal Side of Dying - An Interview with attorney Steve Messick

I’ve teed up this topic in several previous episodes: the legal side of things! I am thrilled to have this important and specific conversation with attorney and long-time friend, Steve Messick, founder and lead attorney of Messick Law, PLLC. He is a top-rated attorney serving clients throughout the State of Minnesota. His primary areas of practice include probate, trust and estate litigation, elder law, real estate, and civil litigation.

Steve walks us through a high level overview of what happens from the legal side of things when you die. The bottom line? Either you have a plan, or the State you live in will provide a plan, not factoring in thoughts, history or feelings of the person that has died.

Don’t wait until you know exactly what you want done with your assets to start the process of getting your wishes on paper, especially if you have children! Find an estate planning attorney to start the process. Have these conversations with the person you have designated to handle your affairs after you are gone.

Question for Steve? He will be back, so email me! val@thissidepodcast.com
